Choices Magazine's Outstanding Young Achiever for 2006

Jaevion NelsonJamaican Youth have consistently done this little nation proud in a range of spheres.

From academics to sports, in the arts, whatever the field of endeavour, Jamaicans have blazed a proud trail.

This year’s Choices Young Achiever Awardee, is a young man who has placed Jamaica positively on the world stage in the technology arena.

Beginning as Vice President of the Clarendon College Technology Club, he excelled in the inaugural Go-local competition in schools in 2003 and was named “most outstanding student” in that contest.

He represented Jamaica at the Childnet International Academy in London in 2004 and was co-host in 2005 when the Academy met in Montego Bay.

This young man, now pursuing a BSc. in Management Studies at the University of the West Indies, is a member of an International team of web designers and developers, content writers and researchers, on a project called young MDG.  The project has already been successful in Childnet International and Oracle Education Foundation Thinkquest International, where they won in the “New to Net” category and came second in the “Under 19 Category”.
Our awardee is now the non-resident co-ordinator for his Hall of Residence of UWI.

Last year he copped the highest national honour that can be bestowed on Jamaican Youths aged 14-24 when he was awarded the Prime Minister’s youth award for excellence in the field of international achievement.

Apart from his achievements in the area of Hi-Tech, our awardee is a well rounded student who has served as Editor-in-Chief of his school newsletter, as PRO for the UNESCO Club and as Junior Mayor for the parish and has also found time to be involved in debating, to sing, act and play badminton.

He is a high achiever and Choices Magazine is proud to name Jaevion Nelson “The 2006 Choices Outstanding Young Achiever”.
